POKER TIPS!!!!!

After a long day of playing poker here are some tips that i found useful in playing well in the poker room. Enjoy!

Poker Tips:

So you have been playing online poker for a while now and you are ready to play with the big boys at your local casino room. Here are some rules or tips that can help you not look like a fool in front of experienced players.

  1. You do not have to immediately play when you first come in to the casino room.

Ok, I know you are itching to play that first lucky hand in the Texas hold em table, however to reduce to foolish looks from the other players. Check out the room and see how are the hands are played. This example is very important as many casinos rooms have different ways to play the same game, which may be different from what you are usually used to playing online. When I go to a new poker room that I never been to before, I like to look around all of the poker tables and look to see what the action is going on in the poker room. I also like to look at the screens or boards to see what specials or, “bad beats” are going on as well so I can become familiar with the game.

  1. Do not bring 1,000’s of dollars to play poker, start small then work your way to the big boys.

I know it seem tempting from all of the coverage of poker on ESPN, however smaller amounts can help you budget as well as will not cause an emotional breakdown when you lose all of your money. When I first started to play poker I started at the cheap tables in Florida with 20.00 and blinding out at 1 and 2 dollars. This way I am not upset when I lose a lot of cash but also I am learning the game and your money will go rather far on the tables.

  1. Don’t be afraid to ask questions to the dealer………

How do you know how to play if you don’t ask questions? Since every poker room is different you should ask questions to the dealer if you do not understand the play, i.e. problems with betting or raising. Trust me, the dealer and the other players have all been in your shoes before and only if they have been drinking to much, will appreciate you more later on in the game then when you are making mistakes and the floor,(casino floor supervisor) has to come and redo the round.

  1. You are not going to win every hand……

I think this tip is one of the most important tips in poker, just because you were good at your yahoo poker does not mean you are going to be a pro right away in table poker. A lot of newbie’s get upset when they are not winning hands as they used to online so they give up. In actually, online poker when it is free has a lot more winning hands then table poker and the first couple of times you may not even make any money; hence the rule #2. However, with practice and time you can be a pro and move on the bigger and better tables and hopefully when some cold hard cash!
